Q: What do I need to get started?

  • The Publishing Rights and Sound Recording Rights to your music

  • A valid Social Security # or Federal Tax ID # for your W9 form to be completed.

  • Music Sound file for one song – Mp3, 320 kbps, 44.1 Khz, Stereo, CBR

  • Album Artwork – Jpeg, 1500x1500, 300 dpi, RGB, 100q

Q: What is the difference between Publishing Rights and Sound Recording Rights?

The Publishing Rights are the rights to the composition (music and lyrics). Sound Recording Rights are the rights to the master sound recording.

Q: What is a distributor?

A music distributor is a company (with whom the artist/band has a direct relationship with) that digitally services music to online stores and other platforms, like TouchTunes, who in return makes music available to consumers.

Q: Can I use a sample of another artist’s music in my song?

No. You must own the Publishing Rights and Sound Recording Rights to the song. Songs which sample other artist's music will not be accepted.

Q: Do I absolutely need artwork?

Yes. In order for TouchTunes to upload your music to our jukeboxes, you must include artwork in the following format: Jpeg, 1500x1500, 300 dpi, RGB, 100q.

Q: Why do I need a W9 form?

Since your music will be on the TouchTunes jukebox network, we'll need to have all of the necessary paperwork in place to make sure (legally and financially) you're all set up! 

Q: What if my music is explicit?

If your music is explicit, you are still welcome to upload your music. However, keep in mind that not all venues or locations will want to allow music that has explicit content, and they have a right to exclude it from their location.

 

Q: What are possible reasons my song might not be accepted?

  • Your files are not in the right format (Mp3, 320 kbps, 44.1 Khz, Stereo, CBR for songs; Jpeg, 1500x1500, 300 dpi, RGB, 100q for artwork).

  • Your song is too vulgar/explicit.

  • Your song's sound quality is poor.

  • You did not submit the right paperwork.

  • You don't own the full rights to the song.

  • The song file and/or artwork file is corrupted.
